Longford rugby club chairman Tony Headon declared that rugby is a growing game, being helped by the proffesional era of the game.
Headon joined Kevin McDermott on Sportsbeat to review Ireland’s six nations win over Wales.
“Rugby has been growing year on year, there are more and more schools playing it, there’s area’s of the country playing it now that weren’t 10 years ago” explained Headon.
“The likes of the Heineken Cup and the early exploits of Munster and Leinster have certainly helped it” added Headon.
“Young lad’s have seen that you can now play professional rugby in Ireland to a high level and that is driving them into the game.”
