Longford are into the second round of the qualifers after an impressive 2-15 to 1-10 victory over Louth in Drogheda. It will help in some way to banish their Leinster championship heavy defeat to Laois. Denis Connertons side led by 0-9 to 0-05 at half time with the Longford side also hitting seven wides. They had been 0-05 after 28 minutes but the away side finished the half strongly and Longford then out -scored their opponents by 2-06 to 0-05 in the second half. The goals came courtesy of a Liam Connerton penalty and a Barry McKeon goal.

Laois defeated Wicklow by 2-16 to 3-10…Sligo overcame Antrim by 22 points to 3-7.And Derry had 7 points to spare away to Waterford in Dungarvan. For the third year in a row Dublin will face Westmeath in the Leinster Football Chamionship.
