Longford missed out on the final of the Bord Na Mona O’Byrne losing by two free kicks to one in Pairc Tailteann Navan yesterday.
The historic event, the first time that a GAA fixture had gone to a free-kick competition occurred after the sides drew 1-12 after normal time.
The sides were then tied after Extra-time 1-19 to 2-16 following a late goal and point by Longford’s Michael Quinn.
John Duffy and Liam Tierny described the action of the free kick competition.
Longford manager Dennis Connerton said his side worked as hard as they possibly could for a victory as he spoke to John Duffy after the game.
