Brendan Gallagher’s last gasp punched goal rescued a point for Leitrim in a dramatic FBD League game with Mayo on Wednesday evening.
The McHale Park crowed witnessed everything, comebacks, a saved penalty and a dramatic stoppage time punched goal.
Leitrim opened the scoring through Brendan Gallagher before the All-Ireland runners up landed five points in a row.
Leitrim got back into the game with two points from Brendan Gallagher and a point each from Damien Moran and Eoin Ward to restore parity.
Leitrim then took the lead into the break with points from Keith Keegan and Aiden Flynn.
There was high drama at the start of the second half when Leitrim goalkeeper Diarmud McKiernan saved a penalty.
In the 66th minute a Peter Naughton point for Mayo levelled matters at 10 points apiece, before Mayo open a three point lead.
Leitrim weren’t done as Brendan Gallagher becoming the hero punching the ball to the back of the net to share the spoils.

Leitrim return to action next Sunday against Sligo. Elsewhere in the FBD league, Roscommon defeated Sligo by 3-19 to 2-10.
