Leitrim champions Mohill were knocked out of the Connacht senior football championship at a quarter final stage after a 5 point defeat to Castlebar Mitchels in Elverys McHale Park. Paudric Davis side put in a great performance in the entertaining clash and It finished 0-16 to 0-11.
The Mayo side went into a 2 point lead at the start of the game but three points in a row put Mohill in the lead. The game ebbed and flowed and it was 0-05 apiece when Castlebar managed to get the final two points of the half to have a 0-07 to 0-05 interval lead.
Mohill were 0-09 to 0-05 down in the course of the second half when they kicked three points in a row and it was 0-09 apiece after 46 minutes. The final quarter was to see 7 unanswered points from Castlebar mitchels. They now progress to the semi final two take on Sligo champions Tourlestrane in two weeks time.
Padraic Davis then stepped down as manager after the game- a decision he confirmed while in conversation with Willie Hegarty. In his three years in charge he brought them to two county titles and this season they won a league and county double. He told Willie how proud of the side he is
