Leitrim ladies football match with Offaly will go ahead on Sunday.
The Leitrim ladies football county board have confirmed to Shannonside FM that the senior inter-county side will fufill their Third round Lidl national football league division 3 Fixture at home to Offaly on Sunday.
Leitrim have conceded their two previous fixtures with Kildare and Wexford. The county are still in search of a manager to succeed Philip Brady and the county board have confirmed that a statement will be released on that matter before the Offaly game.
Rule 190 of the Ladies gaelic football association Guide states “County Boards must send forward a team for Inter-County Adult Championships. Failure to do so may result in the entire County being suspended for 12 months. The suspension shall start on the date on which the match should have been played.”
That would mean no ladies club or county football in Leitrim at any level for a period of 12 months.
Leitrim have enjoyed various successes at the intermediate grade in the last few seasons including reaching the All-ireland quarter finals last season. Elsewhere in division three next weekend, Longford face Down and Roscommon are up against Meath.
