Leinster move up to second in PRO 12 table after easy win over Ulster

 

Leinster have ended 2016 on a high with a comprehensive fifteen point victory over Ulster in their PRO 12 clash at the RDS today, with the Blues winning by twenty-two points to seven in the first of today’s derby matches.

Leinster stormed to a seventeen points to nil interval lead as Rory O’Loughlin put the home side in front with a well worked try in the opening few minutes,  and then Luke McGrath scored the province’s second try on thirty-one minutes.

Isa Nacewa added a penalty for Leo Cullen’s side and he also struck over two conversions from the two Leinster tries.

Leinster failed to get a bonus point for scoring four tries as they only added an unconverted try in the second-half, as O’Loughlin crossed the whitewash for his second try and Leinster’s third to put them ahead by twenty-two points to nil.

Charles Piutau scored a consolation try for the visitors in the final few moments with a successful conversion added, but it was a disappointing outing for the Northerners. The result moves Leinster into second place in the table, while Ulster

 

Leinster failed to secure a bonus point, but have moved up to 2nd place as a result while Ulster remain in fifth place.
