Ireland To End Year 23rd In FIFA World Rankings

Ireland will end 2016 23rd in Fifa’s World Rankings having reached a five-year high following victory over Austria last month.

Martin O’Neill’s side are the 14th ranked European team and continue to be the second-highest ranked of all the Group D teams.

Wales occupy 12th, while Austria and Serbia remain 31st and 44th respectively.

Georgia are up one place to 118 while Moldova, bottom or Group D with just one point from four games, are 164th.

England (13th), Northern Ireland (32nd) and Scotland (67th) are all unchanged, as is the top 10 which sees Argentina lead the way ahead of fellow South Americans Brazil
