Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill will attend tonight’s soccer writers association of Ireland banquet in Dublin.
The Derry man has been heavily linked with a move to the vacant managers role at Stoke City.
It is reported that the Stoke City board have offered the job to Espanyol manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
This morning the FAI contacted the soccer writers association of Ireland to inform them that O’Neill and his backroom team will attend the banquet.
The senior international soccer team manager is invited every year to the SWAI function, yesterday it was believed O’Neill would not attend this year’s function.
O’Neill is believed to be number two on Stoke City’s wish list to replace Mark Hughes who left the club last weekend.
The SSE Airtricity SWAI awards will see a special presentation to the Irish under 16 and under 18 team’s which won their respective European championships in 1998.
Both teams were managed by Brian Kerr.
