A 55 year-old woman has died following a fatal collision in County Monaghan this afternoon.
The incident happened on the N2 near Castleblaney shortly after 1 o’clock when the female pedestrian was struck by a car.
The woman was treated by Emergency Services at the scene and taken by Air Ambulance to St. James’s Hospital in Dublin where she was later pronounced dead.

Another pedestrian – aged in his 60s – was also stuck by the car and sustained minor injuries.
The occupants of the car were uninjured.
The road is currently closed to traffic and local diversions are in place while Gardaí examine the scene.
