Train strikes to go ahead as unions vote for industrial action

Train strikes are going ahead – after unions and management at Irish Rail failed to reach a deal on pay.

Members of SIPTU and the NBRU have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action.

The unions are meeting this afternoon to agree on when that will take place.

General Secretary Dermot O’Leary says he doesn’t expect any strike to begin during the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
