Police raids across Paris after officer shot dead

French anti-terror police are conducting raids across Paris this morning – after an officer was shot dead on the Champs Elysees.

Three other people – including a woman who’s thought to be a foreign tourist – were injured.

Witnesses report a gunman opening fire on a police van before being shot dead.

The so-called Islamic State group says one of its ‘fighters’ carried out last night’s attack.

John Litchfield who’s the Paris Correspondent with the London Independent says the suspect, who was killed, had been in prison for a similar crime.
