There will be no decrease in commercial rates in Roscommon next year – despite an earlier commitment.
In 2014, the Fianna Fáil /Independent alliance that controls Roscommon County Council pledged to reduce the rate by 10 per cent over the next five years, with 2 per cent being cut in each budget.
However, Fianna Fáil councillor Paddy Kilduff, the whip of the group, says they can’t honour that for 2017.
The rate will be set at Friday’s annual budget meeting of the council on Friday, but the south Roscommon politician indicates no change is likely.
