Gardai in Mayo arrest women after death of baby

an-garda-siochana-badge-300x205The death of a four-month-old baby in Mayo has led to the arrest of a woman in her 20s.

Just days after Christmas on the 28th of December a baby boy was reportedly involved in an ‘incident’ at a home in Bohola Co Mayo.

The infant was rushed by ambulance first to a nearby hospital, then Our Lady’s Children’s hospital in Dublin where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem has been carried out by the State Pathologist, but the results aren’t being released for operational reasons.

Gardaí are calling the death ‘sudden and unexplained’.

They released a statement earlier to say they’ve arrested a woman in her 20s.

She’s being questioned at the moment at Claremorris Garda station.
