Meeting in Dublin today to discuss bypass of Carrick-on-Shannon

carrick-on-shannon-2016A group of local business leaders will meet in Dublin today to rally for the Carrick-on-Shannon bypass project to proceed as soon as possible.

It’s one of a number of demands made by the ‘N4/N5 chambers’ in eight towns and villages across the midlands and northwest.

They are asking the government to provide funding to ensure all planning and preconstruction works, leading to commencement of construction of the Carrick bypass, be finished by 2021.

There is some local opposition to the project, but local councillor Finola Armstrong-McGuire, a member of the Carrick chamber, supports it.
