New figures from the department of Justice have revealed that over 250 people in the Shannonside region are staying in direct provision accommodation.
According to Junior Minister David Stanton, 186 people are staying at a facility in Athlone while Richmond Court in Longford currently has an occupancy of 73.
It was also revealed that just five people, out of the total of 259 have what has been described as status which means they have been granted permission to leave but are still residing at the facility.
