A landmark hotel in Castlerea is set to reopen next month, three years after its shock closure.
The news that Tully’s Hotel is set to return to business has been warmly welcomed by community activists in the west Roscommon town.
Tully’s Hotel at The Square in Castlerea closed in October 2014, with the loss of about ten jobs, after being run by the Tully family since 1968.
It’s one of the oldest buildings in Castlerea, at about 200 years old, and has served as a hotel under different owners much of the past century.
Paul Tully, whose family owns the it, confirms it’ll reopen in the next few weeks, but the exact date hasn’t yet been arranged.
Benny O’Connell, the chairman of Enterprise Castlerea, is warmly welcoming the news.
There has been no hotel in Castlerea since the 22-room Tully’s establishment shut, which community activist and former councillor Danny Burke says has been a major blow to the town.
