A site for a new school building for St Teresa’s Special School in Ballinasloe has finally been identified.
The school in Creagh, which caters for special needs children and young adults, has been operating in cramped conditions for many years.
It’s now understood that a senior planner from Galway County Council has met with Department of Education officials and a site has been agreed.
Welcoming the news, Roscommon/Galway Fianna Fail TD Eugene Murphy said that the existing building is not fit for purpose and that staff there work in difficult conditions.
St. Teresa’s has over 20 pupils and as well as the school, it runs a preschool class for children with autism.
