Schools across the Shannonside region are to share more than €1m in funding aimed at bringing classrooms into the digital age.
Ninety primary schools in Roscommon, 38 in Longford and 37 in Leitrim will share Government grants amounting to nearly €700,000 with each school allocated at least €2,000 plus €21.50 per pupil.
Twenty three secondary schools across the three counties will share over €340,000 to help with buying equipment such as computers, tablets and software to support learning.
Today’s investment is the second instalment of €210m the Department of Education has earmarked for investment in digital technology in schools countrywide.
Local TD’s Denis Naughten and Kevin’Boxer’Moran have welcomed the announcement.
