A Ballinasloe man whose 90-year-old mother was waiting on a trolley at Portiuncula hospital for seven hours recently says we don’t complain enough.
Enda has outlined how his mother was left waiting on a trolley in the hospital for several hours after an X-ray for a minor fracture.
He said his mother had become very distressed during the wait and her blood pressure went to a high level.
He said while the staff in the department were very kind, they were clearly under extreme pressure.
Enda says he was left asking himself if his mother should have been in the emergency department at all, and if there wasn’t a better way of operating our health system.
He says people need to complain more and highlight issues if we are serious about improving healthcare services in this country.
