A Roscommon woman who has been waiting for a bed at Galway hospital for three days says the system is broken and is failing people all the time.
Linda Waters who lives in Roscommon attended the Emergency Department at University Hospital in Galway on Wednesday afternoon after having had an episode on Tuesday night.
Linda, who is on dialysis three times a week, and who is a former transplant recipient, is at risk of getting infections more easily than other people, but says that can’t be catered for in the hospital because of the overcrowding.
Speaking to Shannonside FM this afternoon, Linda says she was finally expecting to be allocated a bed today after lobbying though a patients liaison group.
She says though that this shouldn’t be necessary, and the system is falling apart:
