Roscommon woman reveals ‘terror’ after getting caught up in Hurricane Irma

A Roscommon woman said she never felt terror like last week as one of the most powerful hurricanes ever to make landfall struck the Florida coast.

Hurricane Irma resulted in thousands of people fleeing their home as winds of up to 180km/h blasted cities like Miami just hours after ripping through dozens of communities across several Caribbean islands

Margaret Duignan, originally from Strokestown, only moved to Florida last year, but was forced to take emergency cover as the city of Naples was battered by high winds and incessant rainfall.
