Roscommon drivers praised as none caught speeding during Slow Down day

Gardai have praised drivers passing through a checkpoint in Roscommon today for observing the speed limit.

Gardaí and GoSafe between 7am and 8.30am monitored the speed of 18,420 vehicles with 44 cars detected travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

However, not a single driver who passed Go safe van on the ·N5 at Portahard in Roscommon was found to be speeding and all drivers who passed the checkpoint on the N4 at Rockingham Demesne in Cootehall were also below the limit.

It was just one of four areas countrywide this morning where all drivers kept below the limit.

Of the 44 drivers caught speeding, one motorist was observed driving at 120km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the N4 at Lackan in Edgeworthstown and another was observed doing 90km/h in a 80km/h Zone on the R194 at Ballynacross Granard Longford.
