Roscommon CE warns trade unions of new reality at local authority level

The Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council says trade unions will have to face a new reality when it comes to working with change at local authority level.

Eugene Cummins was speaking after facing two disputes with trade unions in 2016.

Changes to flexi and family time arrangements prompted IMPACT members to vote for industrial action, until an agreement was reached at the Labour court.

A second dispute over time keeping issues with a small number of outdoor staff resulted in threatened strike action by SIPTU workers until last minute intervention saw an agreement reached.
