Businesses in Roscommon are being urged to take advantage of a new initiative which could help them break into the massive American market.
Two local companies are already benefitting from the project and are in negotiations to secure contracts Stateside and more are queuing up to get on board.
The project revolves around an enterprise centre set up in Rhode Island which is backed by Roscommon, Leitrim and four other western county councils.
The role of the Ireland West International Trade Centre is to help small companies from participating counties to enter the US market, with advice on everything from taxation to legislation and introductions.
Louise Ward, Head of Enterprise, at the Local Enterprise Office In Roscommon County Council told the council’s monthly meeting there has already been phenomenal interest in the project.
But she said she would welcome enquiries from more small business owners who want to try out the US market.
