Army recruits in the Shannonside region are set for an increase in salary following agreement between PDFORRA and the Department of Defence.
Under the Lansdowne Road Agreement, general service recruits and privates at Athlone’s Custume Barracks will get increases in their gross pay of over €38 per week for their first 17 weeks of training.
Private 2 stars will get around €78 per week for their additional 12 weeks of training.

Private 3 Stars will see an increase in the region of €2,000 to €6,000 per annum depending on their point in the scale.
The increases apply to those who joined the Defence Force after January 1st, 2013.
The pay increases will also apply to new entrants.
