The River Shannon has shown a slight increase in its water level across this region as Ireland gets ready for Storm Brian.
According to figures compiled by the Office of Public Works and available on water levels.ie, the height of the water at the Hodson bay station is currently just under three metres and the water level at the Athlone Weir this morning is just over three metres.
Ballinamore station is showing a staff level gauge of 1.52 metres this afternoon, a drop on figures recorded earlier this week in the hours after Storm Ophelia.
Between the 24th of September and the 1st of October the water level peaked in the last 35 days at 1.9 meters.
The Derrycahill figures show the current water level is 1.595 metres, down from a high of 1.8 metres in the last 35 days, recorded at the beginning of this month.
In Carrick-on-Shannon there has been a steady rise in water levels in the last week, with a reading this morning of 1.93 meters – a centimetre increase on figures for yesterday.
