New online archive sheds light on life in Roscommon parish pre-Famine

A major investigation of life in a Roscommon parish before the Famine has been made available online for the very first time.

The RCB Library’s Archive of the Month for May is a presentation by Alan Moran of the vestry minute book of the Parish of Bumlin, which covers Strokestown and two smaller related civil parishes: Kiltrustan and Lissonuffy.

The minute book covers the period from 1811 to 1870 and contains details of the type of donations made to a local charity fund, and the people who were assisted and can be accessed on https://www.ireland.anglican.org/about/rcb-library/archive-of-the-month
