New chair of Western Development Commission wants more targeted projects for region

The new chairperson of the Western Development Commission says she hopes the body can work in a more targeted way for the future to promote the west of Ireland.

A new board was appointed to the commission in August of this year and Dr Deirdre Garvey who chaired its first meeting says a lot of the problems of 20 years ago remain the same in terms of providing jobs and opportunities to encourage people to stay and live in the region.
