A man in his forties has been remanded in custody following his appearance at a special court sitting in Roscommon yesterday evening.
He has been charged with assault casuing harm in relation to an incident in Roscommon town on the 30th of August.
The man who is from the Athlone area was remanded in custody to Castlerea prision and will appear again at Roscommon district court next Tuesday.

A second man arrested on Tuesday as part of the investigation was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The injured man is continuing to recover from his injuries.
