LISTEN: Roscommon filling station owner describes terror during robbery at knifepoint

A filling station owner in west Roscommon has described the terrifying ordeal his staff suffered when they were robbed at knifepoint.

Paul Fitzpatrick of the Daybreak filling station on the Ballyhaunis Road in Ballinlough said his two male staff who were held up were shaken after their ordeal.

He told how a lone man wearing a hoodie entered the premises at 8.40pm on Saturday night and threatened staff with a knife before making off with the till takings amounting to €1,300.

The thief is believed to have made his escape in a white Opal Vectra with a partial registration known of 06 MO.

Mr Fitzpatrick commended his staff for their response to the incident and said it was the third robbery at the petrol station but the two previous incidents were out of hours.
