Judging to begin shortly to find Ireland’s most enterprising town

Eight areas in the Shannonside region will be hoping to succeed Boyle as the most enterprising town in Ireland later this year.

Judging is due to begin shortly in the national competition to find the successor to the Roscommon town’s maiden success in 2016.

78 entries from 31 local/city authority areas are vying to be crowned Bank of Ireland’s National Enterprising Town Winner 2017,  which Boyle claimed as the maiden winner last year.

In Longford, Granard, Longford Town and Edgeworthstown are battling it out for the title, while Roscommon’s hopefuls are Strokestown and Ballyleague/Lanesborough with Leitrim’s bid for success three pronged thanks to the efforts of Manorhamilton, Drumshanbo and Carrick-on-Shannon.
