Trade union Impact has warned all-out strike action may be considered by workers in their dispute with Roscommon County Council.
The local authority and a section of employees have been locked in a long-running disagreement over flexi time arrangements which resulted in a Labour Court Recommendation being issued to both sides in June.
However, Impact claims that Roscommon County Council is now trying to implement new arrangments which will deny some staff the chance to avail of the flexi-time scheme.
In a statement to Shannonside FM, the trade union has confirmed that work-to-rule industrial action will begin next Tuesday and will see workers refusing to answer phones or respond to emails, while some desks at the local authority may also be left unmanned as part of the industrial action.
Padraig Mulligan is the assistant general secretary of Impact.
