The HSE is concerned about the ‘risks’ associated with staff shortages in primary care in Roscommon.
According to the minutes of a recent meeting of the primary care management team for Roscommon, Galway and Mayo, issues have arisen because of staff shortages across all services.
Tony Canavan, the HSE’s chief officer in the region, has been made aware of the ‘associated risks’.

The minutes note Frank Murphy, the head of primary care services, is to be alerted in advance of any ‘actions necessary’ due to a lack of resources and staffing.
Local Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice claims the problems are part of a wider issue of a shortage of nurses in Ireland.
