Over €600k funding approved for group water scheme upgrades locally

More than €650,000 in funding has been announced to upgrade group water and sewerage schemes in the Shannonside region.

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy has allocated the largest tranche of money locally to County Roscommon which has been granted just over €467,000.

A further €110,000 has been allocated to Leitrim County Council and €80,500 to Longford’s local authority.

This additional funding brings to more than €15million the amount provided nationally this year under the Department’s Rural Water Programme.

The funding is aimed at improving water quality in existing group water schemes, helping new group water schemes and the upgrading works in group distribution networks. Funding also goes towards group sewerage schemes.
