Developers confident Ballagh waste plant will proceed

The company behind the controversial waste-to-energy facility near Ballaghaderreen hopes to resume construction by the end of the year.

Building work on the €8-million plant at Tibohine was almost complete last November when Roscommon County Council ordered work to cease because unauthorised development had taken place.

Earlier this year, Biocore Environmental lodged a fresh application for permission and retention permission at the anaerobic-digester development – but the file was deemed incomplete.

A new application has now been lodged, Biocore’s operation director, Declan Murray, is confident permission will be granted.
