Coillte has agreed to suspend all harvesting works in Mote Park until a new forest-management plan is agreed.
Planned tree-felling at the Roscommon town facility led to angry scenes between protesters and workers last Friday during preparatory works.
The Mote Park Conservation Group claimed forestry clearance work was about to be carried out that was in breach of an agreement it had with Coillte.
A meeting was held between both sides on Tuesday, and the semi-state company has agreed to suspend all harvesting works until an updated forest-management plan is developed.
Eilish Feeley, the secretary of the conservation group, welcomes the outcome but insists the fight isn’t over.
