People dumping clothes at the Centre Point Retail Park in Roscommon town may well have cost the town the title of Irelands cleanest town in today’s IBAL awards.
The town was in the running with Ennis and Kildare town for the top spot after the publication of the annual results, but it lost out to Ennis at the final hurdle.
The IBAL report about Roscommon during the most recent inspection had highlighted what it described as the “heavily littered Clothing Bank at the retail park” and said it was in fact, “the only blemish” to report.
Speaking on let’s Talk this afternoon Councillor Shanagher conceded the dumping of clothes could have cost the town a national title, and she appealed to people to think about what they’re doing:
