Eamon Casey will be laid to rest in Galway this afternoon.
The former Catholic bishop passed away at a Clare nursing home on Monday aged 89 after a long illness.
Requiem Mass will take place in the Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and Saint Nicholas at 2 o’clock followed by interment in the Cathedral crypt.

When serving as chaplain at University College Dublin, the Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran, who is attending today’s funeral, said many students were very impressed with the former bishop social justice work with Trocaire.
