An appeal is to be lodged with An Bord Pleanála against the waste-to-energy plant planned for Ballaghaderreen.
Yesterday, Roscommon County Council granted Biocore Environmental planning permission to retain and complete its €8-million facility at Ballinphuill, Tibohine.
Some residents strongly oppose it, claiming it would pollute the area.
A spokesperson for the Tibohine Action Group says it’s not surprised by the council’s decision and confirms it will appeal against it to the planning board.
But Declan Murray, Biocore’s operations director, is welcoming the council’s ruling.
