A Roscommon councillor is calling for urgent action after it’s claimed a teenage girl with a cardiac condition had to wait an hour for an ambulance to come from Sligo.
Cllr. Paschal Fitzmaurice says the family of the girl, who was seriously ill, could not get any ambulance in Co Roscommon to bring her to hospital.
Instead an ambulance had to travel from Sligo to the girl’s home near Loughlynn when she took sick on the morning of Sunday 28th of January.
This is depite the fact that an ambulance base was opened at Loughlynn in 2016 but according to Cllr Firzmaurice has no ambulance or staff to respond to local emergencies.
He’s now asking what tragedy it will take to shame the Government into providing a proper ambulance service in West Roscommon.
