More than 50,000 people visited Strokestown Park House in 2017.

One of Roscommon’s biggest tourists, it includes a Georgian Palladian mansion, the Irish National Famine Museum and walled gardens. A series of the standard events were held during the year, including the Easter Egg Hunt and Victorian Christmas Experience.

There were new additions also, with the Chapterhouse outdoor theatre group performing the ‘Wind in the Willows’ in the gardens in August. All in all, visitor numbers were roughly the same as last year, just passing the 50,000 mark, as general manager John O’Driscoll explains.
