Workers at Lough Ree Power in Lanesboro are positive about plans to transition the station from peat to biomass.
The ESB held its first public consultation in Lanesboro yesterday ahead of beginning the official environmental and planning process gets underway later this Spring.
It’s hoped to burn both peat and biomass at the plant from late 2020 when the current license expires and the transition is expected to be fully complete by the late 2020s.
The ESB says there will be no job losses as a result and it will be seeking biomass from both international and home grown sources.
These workers told Shannonside FM that they are positive about the change.
