A special sitting of Longford District Court is to get under way this morning to hear details of an alleged assault at a mosque in the county more than two years ago.
Judge John Cheatle will preside over the case of six men who are accused of being involved in an alleged incident in August 2015.
A previous sitting of the District Court in January was told that a dispute arose between different members of the Muslim community in the town over the removal of the Imam from his post in the summer of 2015.
Six men, a father and his two sons together with three brothers, with various addresses in Edgeworthstown, previously appeared in court in connection with an alleged assault at the Longford Islamic centre in Longford town in August 2015.
A special judge from outside of the district is being brought in to hear the case after Judge Seamus Hughes recused himself from hearing more details of the case in April.
At that sitting, details were heard in court that mediation efforts between different sections of the Muslim community following the alleged assault had failed and that the alleged victim wished to have his day in court.
The case is expected to take two days, and proceedings get under way this morning at 10.30am.
