One in three ratepayers in Longford are set to experience an increase in their rates according to the valuation office.
The full list of valuations for all commercial property in Roscommon, Longford and Leitrim have been published online this afternoon.
New valuation lists for 9 local authorities have been published online today, and it’s mixed news for rates payers across the Shannonside region.
Roscommon commercial properties have fared the worst, with 33 percent of them facing a rates hike and four percent remaining unchanged.
448 repressions were made on the 2,088 valuation certs issued, and 447, or 21 per cent had their rates changed as a result.
In Longford just under 1,400 Valuation certs were issued, with 207 representations made since February.
65 per cent of all rate payers will see a reduction on what they are to pay to the county council, just five percent will see no change.
In Leitrim 1,081 certs were issued, and 70 percent of all ratepayers will see no change while just over 24 percent are facing a hike.
All valuations will have to be multiplied by the county council’s annual rate on valuation which will be decided at its annual budget meeting.
Currently the valuation rate in Longford and Roscommon is 0.25 and in Leitrim it’s 0.23.
Using the example of three well-known hotels in this region, the Longford Arms Hotel has been given a valuation of €165,000
The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon is valued at €250,000 and the Bush hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon has been given a rating of €140,000
