A new support group for Parkinson’s suffers in Longford is due to be launched next week.
Up to now, the county has not had a dedicated service to help those affected by the debilitating condition
The disorder, which affects the movement, is mostly common in elderly people, but there are an increasing number of people under the age of 50 presenting with symptoms.

Killoe woman Adell Dunleavy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 45, after she first noticed a tremor in her hand and hand deterioration in her handwriting
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, she explained how people in Longford find it difficult to access proper services:
