New Longford mental-health service to be discussed today

Plans to develop a new structure to help people with mental health issues in Longford will be discussed at an informal meeting in the town this morning.

A transformative college currently operates in Roscommon, and it’s hoped the recovery model and peer to peer support can also be established in Longford.

The transformative model of mental health support encourages people to help others with difficulties and not to stigmatise anyone who may be experiencing mental health issues.

Today’s meeting takes place in the Courtyard Café at 11am in Longford town and Alice McDonnell, a peer educator, says the project is about getting people to open up and talk.
