Longford man Matt Farrell has been invited to meet Prince Charles and his wife during their visit to Ireland this week.
Matt was announced as the country’s ‘heritage hero’ earlier this year for his work over the last 20 years in promoting the legacy of Maria Edgeworth and her family in the 1700s and 1800s in Co Longford.
The annual Maria Edgeworth festival took place in Edgeworthstown just last weekend and attracted people from around the world to the local area.

Speaking on Let’s Talk today, Matt Farrell says he was delighted to get the invitation from the Heritage Council to attend at Kilkenny Castle when the British Royals visit on Thursday.
He says he’ll continue to promote Longford there, if he gets the chance.
