Longford’s fire chief has welcomed the completion of a tender process to significantly upgrade the county town’s fire station.
It was confirmed last night that the tender for the almost €800k upgrade has been won by Doyle construction, who are based in Kenagh.
The development, which is set to take at least six months and will begin in early 2018, will see the construction of a two-storey extension to the current which will include provision for a new fire appliance as well as offices at Templemichael in the town.
The approval of tender has been welcomed by Longford-Westmeath TD Kevin Boxer Moran as well as by councillors Gerry Warnock and Mae Sexton.
