A right-of-way in Longford town is set to be closed off almost immediately because of allegations of antisocial behaviour.
For the past couple of years, local councillors have been calling for access to a road entering the Dún Darrach estate in the Dublin Road to be cut off.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Longford Municipal District, engineer Eamon Bennett revealed significant progress had been made.

All but one property owner has consented for the right-of-way to be extinguished and, once agreement has been secured from that house, the council will immediately seek to close it off.
An eight-foot palisade fence is set to be erected, which it’s hoped will end antisocial behaviour.
